SPETSES Island
Spetses is an island among the Saronic Islands. The town of Spetses is the only large settlement on the island. The island's area is only 27 km2. You can access the island by road, from AELIA. You can drive to Porto Heli (Kosta port) and take a water taxi or small ferry across.
An unusual aspect of Spetses is that NO private automobiles are allowed within the town limits. The most common modes of transport are walking, horse-drawn carriages, bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles. Only taxis and delivery vehicles are allowed in the downtown area. Ferries and high-speed hydrofoils arrive regularly from Piraeus.
Spetses is famous for its greeny-blue clear waters. The beaches are accessible by buses, or only accessible from water. There is hardly ever waves, due to its geographical location, so this island is ideal for many water-sports.
